The Resilence and the Sportsmen Activity

Résumé de la conférence

Psychological resilience refers to resistance, an inner strength of a person to face the stressful, traumatizing, overwhelming events, during his life span. The resilience is seen more like a process than a trait. The origin of this process and the process itself remain partially unknown ; what we try to analyze is the response in different life events, emotional challenges and the ability to bounce back after traumas, accidents and failure.
Looking back at the history of the humankind, we find various examples of remarkable resilient personalities. Their unique experience reveals us their ability to endure physical challenges, pain and incredible emotional charge, but also their capacity to pursue their goals no matter what.
Athletes, in particular, develop resilience during their complex physical training and they learn to manage pain, accidents and disappointments during preparation and competitions. They develop certain skills that help them to overcome the roadblocks and to follow their dreams ; that is what makes them successful, strong and adaptable individuals in or outside the court.
