Abstract
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at INRIA Bordeaux Sud Ouest, where my work focuses on the social dimension of decision-making processes and their developmental differences across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Since my PhD thesis, defended in 2022 at Lyon University, I have investigated different types of social influence, ranging from basic forms like simple presence (doctoral research) and evaluation effects (current second postdoctoral project), to more complex interaction forms such as coercion effect (first postdoctoral project at Gent University, Belgium). More recently, I developed a new research line studying the prosocial dimension of pro-ecological behaviors, aiming to identify the neurocognitive processes underlying ecological decision-making and to characterize their similarities and discrepancies with socially motivated behaviors. Across all these projects, a cross-cultural and cross-societal perspective is consistently integrated, allowing to investigate variability driven by individual and environmental factors.
In this presentation, I will therefore introduce these complementary research lines through studies combining psychophysiological measures (behavior, eye tracking, questionnaires), computational approaches (decision-making models), and neuroimaging (fMRI and EEG). Encompassing diverse forms of social influence across the moral spectrum, these studies collectively demonstrate that others shape our decisions across all stages of the decision-making process (pre-decision, decision, and post-decision), right from childhood. They further show that resisting social influence engages distinct systems, including emotional and cognitive conflict mechanisms, particularly when decisions carry (im)moral implications.
